An incredible meal 24/7. The broccoli was nothing special, but the service was excellent. I got King of the Sea with flounder and shrimp. The flounder was incredibly flaky and soft, and the shrimp was excellent too. I had a delicious iced coffee. The entree came with broccoli, salad, a crab stuffed mushroom which was excellent, and a huge baked potato. This was an excellent meal on proper china at any time, but 4-6 am is incredible. The restaurant is beautiful with natural stone finishes. The bathrooms are covered in marble and Dyson appliances. The food was served in courses, with salad first. Prices were very reasonable at only $35 for all this food. Seafood is expensive. Suggestions to make the experience more high end: use glass cups instead of plastic. Serve salad dressing in metal or ceramic instead of plastic cups like the milk. Consider using metal straws or nicer plastic ones.

Somerset Diner 1045 Easton Ave. Somerset, NJ 08873 Western Omelette The portion size of the omelette was very large. The home fries and eggs were served hot. There was a perfect ratio of ham, peppers, and onions in the omelette. Service was fast and friendly. As a bonus, some of the booths have USB chargers if you need to charge your cellular device. As another bonus, this location is open 24 hours. (Most diners in this area close between 8 PM - 10 PM.) I’m looking forward to exploring their other breakfast menu options.

My first time in an American diner and I loved the experience; it was like in one of those American movies. Loved the service and loved the food, the portions are pretty hefty too and for resonable prices! We were stuffed after such a meal and we would love to come back in a future during our next trip to USA ❤️

Love this place for its old-school charm and cozy vibe. The atmosphere is wonderful; most customers are regulars; interesting paper ads on the table; menu offers a wide variety of choices; the plating isn't fancy and the service can be a bit unpredictable though. But it is still my all-time favorite. Over the years, I've made so many memories here.

I visited Sourest Diner last night around midnight with a group of about 20 people. Even though we didn’t call ahead, the staff was very kind and accommodating to such a large group at a late hour. There was plenty of parking right next to the building, which made it easy for all of us to get in. My meal cost about $15, which I felt was fair for the portion and quality. They also offer a 10% student discount, which is a nice bonus. I paid with a card with no issues. The hostess was polite and funny, and we even joked around while ordering, which made the experience feel welcoming. Since we had a large group, the food took about 30–40 minutes, but that was understandable. There were not many other customers at that time, so the environment felt relaxed. The diner itself was clean, including the bathroom, and the architecture had a nice classic diner feel. I ordered pancakes, eggs, and bacon, and everything tasted great. I also have a nut allergy, and it was not a problem at all. They were careful and accommodating. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience and would recommend this diner, especially for late-night meals with friends.

Very swanky Diner with some good food. French Dip was one of the best my wife has had. Waiter had the kitchen make me a special burger since they have Pastrami. Utah is known for burgers with Pastrami on top. Canoli was really good too. Not a huge fan of the fries. I prefer fresh cut. This was also a Pepsi friendly place so I will be adding it to my Pepsi Stops.

I visited Somerset Diner 2/6/16 and it was everything you would expect in a diner experience. The vibe was great. We went at night so it was pretty quiet. But I can imagine there’s going to be more noise during the day. But either way, it was worth going. Especially finding a 24/7 diner is nonexistent nowadays. And it’s close to the hospital I work at. So it was a convenience. But as far as the food, eggs and ham and corned beef hash were great for sure. Home fries were good as well but I wasn’t super crazy about it but it was mid. That’s why I’m giving 4.5 🌟because I’ve had better. Waiter Kevin was very attentive to our order and always followed through by providing great service. So I’ll be back for sure. Grade A

I've been to Somerset Diner a few times since coming to Rutgers. I've had mixed feelings in the past but went with my girlfriend around midnight April 29th and had one of the best diner experiences of recent memory. As soon as we walked in the older man at the front counter greeted us and sparked up conversation. He was really funny and set the mood for a great late night dinner. We got stuffed shells and a panini, my girlfriend said the stuffed shells reminded her of my mom's so that must be a positive! There wasn't too many people in the diner too, so we had a nice time and a good talk with the people working. Afterward we ended up getting a slice of cake and joked around with the man at the counter. It came out to about $67. Somerset Diner is a classic and I fully recommend it to everyone in the Rutgers area!

Visited on Friday, March 27, 2026 at around 2:45PM. Located in Somerset with its own parking lot, which made parking quick and easy. The diner wasn’t too busy, I was seated immediately and didn’t have to wait to order. My server, Kaitlyn, greeted me right away and was very welcoming and helpful. She walked me through a few specials, including a siracha lime shrimp wrap, which I decided to order. The food came out about 10 minutes after ordering, which felt fast and efficient. The wrap and sweet potato fries (which I upgraded to) were both good. The space itself was very clean and had a vintage diner vibe, which I liked. I felt comfortable and welcomed during the visit. They also offer free WiFi, and a 10% Rutgers student discount. Overall, a smooth and enjoyable experience with solid food, quick service, and a nice environment.
